Not once were guns ever pointed to their heads demanding they must do election shows.

You can just write comedy. Elections aren’t obstacles designed for shitty comedy. You sort of just fucking do what you’re paid millions to do and leave the political thinking to those who actually have to care.


All the shit that everyone gives them for over season 20 was purely their own doing. They couldn’t resist another fucking Trump/Garrison shoe-in even during Biden’s term. No one asked for them to do that.

 

They lucked out with Giant Douche + Turd Sandwich and that’s it. What nearly ruined it for me was how hard they bitched about anti-GW sentiment. Because everyone hated Bush and neither creator was really educated enough to figure out why everyone hated Bush. So they cried.

Same thing with 2008. They saw one doozie of a neolib gag on Family Guy and made an entire election episode be non political out of spite.

More than once, they’ve been fairly shameless on never knowing what the fuck they are talking about. And now their precious MAGA and libertarian clique thinks they’re caving in.

I almost forgot “That’s My Bush” for a second.

Most of that show actually was funny, but it really puts things in perspective again how that specific nonstance got completely overshadowed by both an infinity of derpy Bush parodies, and the actual War on Terror.

I gave up on South Park long ago. You know if you are gonna do a bunch of racist jokes on a cartoon, it's a REALLY bad idea to have the show advocate Republican ideals. Family Guy got away with what it did for so long because Seth MacFarlane being a liberal meant he didn't really mean those jokes, they supposedly weren't coming from a cruel place, and he was an equal opportunity offender.

Now whether those reasons for excusing Seth are bullshit or not (and I think they probably were) they ARE understandable.

Trey and Matt always using Republican framing and blaming liberals for the world's problems made me think all of their mean racist, sexist, and homophobic shit was genuine and they were legit punching down. How many episodes was I supposed to watch the show calling liberals pussies and douches before realizing "They aren't actually kidding and this shit is NOT good natured". The Isaac Hayes thing might have been the final straw for me, but it's the fact that they felt so comfortable shitting on the one actor of color who gave them cover for years for their racism which is why it was.

I don’t register everything they’ve done as harm when I probably should, but they’ve never had anyone bigger tear into their ego and it shows by just how whiney and entitled they are.

They’ve said a bunch of dumb shit and became the hollow-minded rich white folk they’d been using as meal tickets. They’ve gone their whole careers not being challenged on a single thing they’ve ever done.

They can dish it out, but they can't take it. The Family Guy joke in question was a blink and you'll miss it piece of a nonsense, and they built their entire election episode in 2008 around a rebuttal to it. It's like Seth lives rent-free in their heads. It's kind of pathetic.
