I have been guilty of calling the Tim and Eric stuff stoner comedy. Mostly because I don't find anything funny about it and assume you have to be a little baked to appreciate it. But you're right, it's probably a lazy generalization.
Beavis And Butt-Head is both cynical to me and openly tragic. People acting like it's just dumbshit pop-culture references really don't understand its message.
